Cotton drill shorts. Stitching inspired by the Japanese method of Boro. Size 10.
I still have much to learn about Boro, but from my reading, I love it. There is such beauty in the simple lines and stitches of this technique, but it's the history and philosophy that I really love.
My basic understanding is that the term is derived from the Japanese word Boroboro, which translates to 'rags', and the technique evolved from the necessity of adding strength and warmth to clothing through patching. It uses a basic running, or Sashiko, stitch and focuses on functionality rather than design. It highlights the repair; the imperfections.
I love the beauty in the simplicity and all that it represents, and hope that you do too.
